Luxury Basics by bassike

Long Slouch V-Back Tie Top / Mega Wide T-Shirt

Striped Layering Singlet / Original Pocket Short Sleeve T-Shirt

BACK TO BASICS. "In hard times, simplify." Whether you are feeling the recession or not, taking a minimalistic approach to your wardrobe is never a bad idea. Made from completely organic cotton, bassike fills the gap in the market for luxury basics in interesting cuts and superior materials. Perfect pieces for the days where you just want to throw something on, but still know that you have quality in your clothes. Pair these with leggings, tapered denim, boyfriend jeans whateverrr and I'm good to go.

Unlikely Pair

Mackage leather jacket, Wilfred light-wash cropped denim jacket, AA seamless tank top in cream, black bandeau and nylon tricot leggings, H&M scarf.

  • I have been wearing this denim jacket all weekend. To work, to the bar, to school! After many unsuccessful attempts at trying to find the perfect one (UO, American Eagle, even the Gap), I was definitely excited to see this Wilfred one in at work. $75, not bad for a basic I know I'm going to wear hella.
  • Recently I've noticed the use of a denim jacket under other jackets. On the Runway (DSQUARED2), in photos via The Sartorialist, etc. So I thought I'd try it; it actually wasn't that bad although it was a little uncomfortable writing notes in class today. Movement is a little restricted haha.
  • Remember when I posted about how I had "yet to find an outfit" to wear with my AA leggings? Call it an epiphany or whatever, but all of a sudden I can't seem to NOT wear these. They almost go with everything now.
  • I need to trim my bangs!

LONDON 09: Twenty8Twelve

The Miller sisters (Savannah and Sienna) debuted their collection this week in London and I have to say that I did not see this coming from them! I love the clothes. Contrary to some of my other runway posts, this is a collection that I would actually and could actually wear; the pieces are practical (yay, Runway2Realway) and equally all would be definite style staples. Truly what RTW is all about. Introducing: Twenty8Twelve.
Love the texture in the tights, probably the perfect long blazer; slouchy beanies; the 3rd look altogether is just an amazing combination between badass/comfy/formal; and the classic one-shoulder black dress.

Grunge meets Glam: the padded-shoulder T-shirt (OK Balmain), spray-on stretch jeans; opaque w/ sheer mesh cutouts dress and bodysuit (OK Alexander Wang); and the ultimate investment, the leather jacket. Looks that I may not be able to pull off here, but still love.

I've always been into the Pretty Tough look. Top two ^

In Search for Studs

Maybe it's my inner junior high tomboy making a comeback, but seriously I still think studs are badass. Of course I would never go all out like Rihanna, and I probably could never afford the studded shoes that graced the Balmain runway (although there are great Zara, Aldo and Bebe K-O's, haha); but that's the reality of Runway VS. Realway. In order to rock em' tastefully, I've come up with these Top 3 that I would love to wear in Realway:

i) Sharp Pyramid Stud pendant by Alex and Chloe

ii) Triple cream Python Studded cuff by Made Her Think

iii) Studded Chuck Taylor high tops by Converse (for the boyf)
