GGG Down Memory Lane No. 17: Polaroids

Yes! Yes! Yes! It was announced in a press conference in Hong Kong a couple of days ago that Polaroid will re-launch the legendary Polaroid One Step Camera. To think that they even muttered the thought of stopping production entirely of instant photography... I remember having my very own when I was 11. I took it to Florida and loved being able to capture those magical moments and have em' pop out in physical form a couple of shakes later. Now I'm lucky if I even go once a year to go and get my digital photos printed.

So, in light of this joyous occasion, here are some Polaroids of my mother and my older sister during another "joyous" occasion we all know and love: Christmas Photos with the big guy. For sure that is the scariest Santa ever... no wonder she was crying...

GGG Down Memory Lane #16: A Toast To Mother's

Tita Dominique and my mom were very close in due dates... Julian born January 4, my sister born January 6 (1987).
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day!

GGG Down Memory Lane #15: Webcamming

Taking webcam pics... used to be such a guilty pleasure... the best was when someone came into the room and caught you being totally vain and self-indulged looking at yourself on the computer screen haha.

GGG Down Memory Lane #12: Tweed Jacket & Red Accents

I'm not quite sure what this is, I think it's the legal aspect of their marriage? Regardless, I love how casual and personal it is, despite it being a seemingly important event. Nobody else in the room but them, their best friends as witnesses (Tito Rolly & Tita Dominique, whom we still go visit in LA when we have a chance), and the man with the black bow tie to make the paperwork all official.

GGG Down Memory Lane #11: Crimped Hair and Florals

My mom and my sister on New Years Eve in the Philippines, circa 1988.

NYE in the Philippines is way more dope there than here. Stroke of midnight and not only are you surrounded by generations of family, but the streets are filled with colorful fireworks, lighting up the sky so beautifully that you almost forget about the lifestyle differences between what I call home and what my parents called home. I need to go back there again; wish my mom could take me with her today.

GGG Down Memory Lane #10: Family Style

Photos of my parents on a day trip to Lake Louise.

Seems like style staples haven't changed: brown leather bomber, polos, straight-legged denim.

She probably got cold and Dad being the gentleman that he is, I'm sure gave her his coat to wear. Typical young love. <3 Tapered denim, a polo too, finished off with an unpredictable red t-strap sandal.

GGG Down Memory Lane #8: No One In The Corner Can Swagger Like Us

I walked into my Parents' room this morning to go and look in my Mom's closet ("Vintage Shopping") and as I made my way thru the door, past the dressers, into their hallway, what is normally something I merely glance at and walk past, for a particular reason caught my eye this morning. My Mom and Dad's wedding photo, circa 1986.

But check the bottom right-hand corner.

Is that my face!?

HAHAHA for some reason they have a picture of me plastered alongside their wedding photo; I have no idea why or how long it's been up there but it's so random and made me laugh to myself. Great way to start my morning. Have a good day!

GGG Down Memory Lane #7: The Finishing Touch

Candid photo of my mom ("Lyn, look over here"), having someone put on a pearl necklace for her before one of her pageants. Probably taken around 1987. Hope you're not getting tired of seeing photos of my mom. Out of all of the fashion photography and editorials I post, she will always be my number one inspiration. Have a good night!

GGG Down Memory Lane #6: Blow Out Your Candles

Haven't done one of these in a while... Photos of my sister Camille being the Birthday Girl throughout the years. When it's your birthday, doesn't everything seem so carefree and magical?

GGG Down Memory Lane #5: Parents and House Parties

It's my parents wedding anniversary today! Here are some photos of them at a house party?

Notable items:

1. chillin on the couch: dad's having a good time because his shirt is just awesome, meanwhile mom's about to pass out LOL

2. for sure the best looking couple there, haha

3. LEATHER PANTS!!! (plus my mom's smile is squished and cute in this one)

GGG Down Memory Lane #3: Family of Three

A photo of my parents with baby Camille, chillin' in the condo.

Parenthood is so precious! I can't imagine how they felt to bring their first child home... well anyways I'm sure bringing home their second child probably felt better. (me) Ha ha

GGG Down Memory Lane #2: Mothers Always Give

My mom opening presents at her bridal shower in the Philippines.

I put these photos together and they turned out amazing. So beautiful. Especially her face in the last two, as she receives underwear.

GGG Down Memory Lane #1: Mother Knows Best

In lieu of recently going thru my old family albums and finding only the most amazing photos ever, I've decided that I need to share them with someone. I don't care if you care to see them but I can't keep all this nostalgic value to myself, that's selfish! I'll just pretend we are sitting together on the carpet, cross-legged and you're all looking over my shoulder and shit because you're so interested or you're like begging me nottoturnthepagessofast!... I'll imagine you're that interested, even if you're not. I like this concept, and will probably post often on it. Introducing: Life Before Now.

How trendy is she? Seriously. High-waisted cropped harem pants paired with a white collared shirt underneath, the brown probably-leather belt, and the tailored suit coat. I wish I could see her shoes better; don't know if they're heels or sandals. Regardless, it's awesome that what she wore then has made it's fashion cycle and is now back for me.

Also, it's awesome that she's so strong that she can bend two bars apart (Wonderwoman, I tell you), and not to mention her suave one-hand-in-her-pocket pose and lean on the gigantic novelty camera.
