Last Saturday, Rachel had a Dress Only party at her place for the girls (and boys, who suited up very nicely) at work. It was a cute little party held as a surprise for one of our Floor Manager's Madeline. Complete with drinks, appies and literally the best cake ever (you'll see), it was nice to get away from the store for once and just chill with everyone outside of it. But like I said... love your job and you will never work a day in your life. :)
A small but rather fun detail about my job is getting to keep things from our creative window displays. Most of the time whenever a new one gets put up, either girls are "fighting" for props from the previous one (although sometimes the coolest of the cool trinkets have to go back to Marketing) or girls are putting their names and calling keeps on those even before they're placed in the window. So far I've collected a giant green A that is probably taller than myself that I still have stuck in my trunk, but now that I think about it I kinda like it there. I enjoy how surprised people get when I open it as if I had a dead body up in there or something. Like the one time I gave my Associate Manager a ride to a staff party and innocent little me saying "Oh, just throw your stuff in my trunk" lead to her being one of those surprised people. Found out that I technically wasn't supposed to take it yet since the window was going to be put back up. We (or maybe just I) laughed it off, and we ordered in a new one. Haha. So this is my newest possession from our Spring/Summer "Bad Girls Break Hearts" window and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it to take some mugshots like these à la young Lily Rhodes Gossip Girl promo poster or the likes of the Steven Meisel shot editorial "Law and Order" from W Magazine this past March. I assure you I was allowed to take this this time, I am not a criminal... hahaha. I do however find it especially fitting since people always call me a Lifer for the company so to be in the position of a prisoner is pretty funny if you ask me.
I've literally been working non-stop, I'm surprised I haven't pulled my hair out yet. I'm doing 6 days on, 1 day off. Last week the latter fell on a Thursday, so I tried to spend it wisely... took my friends and goddaughter to the Pfantastic Pannenkoek Haus for a late crèpe breakfast and then after that headed off to TD for a quick browse (was this close to buying a bag, but a picture message sent to the Boyf and a phone call later saying that it looked like "Juicy Couture", I was obviously quickly talked out of it... ha) This week my day off landed on a Wednesday, which worked out nicely as to hit up the grand opening yesterday of the CrossIron Mills mall in Balzac. Sis and I managed to grab a few things from ForeverXXI, but aside from that the place does not cater to me. Also, I find it funny how even on my days off, I still end up in a mall.
My best friend got back from Las Vegas a couple of days ago, two other ones are currently in Panama, my sister leaves for Mexico with her boyf this Saturday, and a last minute trip to Vancouver is booked and underway without me. Meanwhile, I'm literally stuck in this period of retail, the second most important one to Christmas: BACK TO SCHOOL. Black Out period is a bitch. So to be quite honest, along with last weeks weather in Calgary being quite gloomy... I feel as if my Summer, if not already, is very quickly coming to an end. =/

There is something seriously so fascinating about fire. I'm the girl who sits up as close as possible to it just so that I can stare at it the whole night. That being said, you can imagine just how thrilled I was when the idea came up to make our very own beach bonfire on our last day in Van... even better, to be able to enjoy it amongst good friends and company? What a great, warming way to end May Long.
Jess' adorable little cousins... a little bit about them: their favorite restaurant is Moxie's because of the Volcano Sundae (dry ice = winner) and also they enjoy sneaking into our room in the mornings and whispering to each other: "The girls are here!"
