The Skin You're In

The Diaz ladies (mom, sis, me) have recently discovered the Bare Escentuals "Get Started" Kit, sold exclusively at Sephora... all 3 of us own it and are in love with the results - it literally doesn't feel like you're wearing anything! Mom used it in the midst of Summer in the Philippines, and said her skin had never felt better even despite the wickedly hot and humid weather. I hate to sound like an advertisement, but after using Mac's Studio Tech foundation for a couple of years, I now realize how thick and creamy it is compared to this stuff and am happy to have found something new and good for my skin.

GET IT ONLINE HERE. *Use Medium, if you're skin is like mine.

Also... I got my eyebrows threaded with Jyes a couple of days ago, you like? Don't think I would go back to waxing after having such a good experience with having them threaded (other than the lady blatantly pointing out that I had a pimple on my forehead while doing so, thanks) Haha, well that's it for my first ever personal beauty post on GGGB. Definitely won't occur very often, but I hope it's been helpful!

Afterparty

Not only is my boyf wonderful for sitting thru a 6hr pageant, but he took these shots of me once we got home. Kind of like, to preserve my very last moments wearing the sash... you know? It was fun. Afterwards, had a last minute (and right before last call, at 1AM) dinner date. Ordered steaks, talked about Star Trek, fell asleep beside eachother. My idea of a perfect way to end a long night.

Countdown To The Crown: 0 Days

This is what I looked like at 5:30PM... inevitably the curls died, and the make-up did slowly wear off come 11:30PM when I actually had to finally do my speech and farewell walk. A 6hr pageant is just ridiculous if you ask me...

MISS JUNIOR - Claridine C. / MISS TEEN - Whitney G. / MISS - Aurielle M.

Anyways, congratulations to the new three beautiful ladies to take the crowns!

Countdown To The Crown: 22 Days

In light of my "reign" almost coming to an end, I've decided to post a slew of photos in reminiscence of the Pageant. I can't believe that this was all just 3 years ago, I find myself looking at the pictures only to feel like I haven't changed all that much. But to be quite honest, although I may not have contributed to the Filipino Calgarian community as much as I should've/could've, I am so glad to have had this opportunity and I truly do feel that it's had an impact on my life. Earlier today while studying for my Sociology final, I came across the term dramaturgical analysis; which is basically looking at your life in terms of a theatrical performance. Our presentation of self and our demeanor reveals information about ourselves to others everyday. I like to think that over the course of the past 3 years, I have carried myself in a way that I am proud of; the decisions I've made, the temptations I've stayed away from, the effort that I've put into making my life fulfilling. Being deemed Miss Teen Philippines Calgary did not make me see myself as a "role model" to anybody but myself. With or without the title, I'm proud of who I've grown up to be today and I hope that regardless if you get the Crown this year or come out as Runner-Up, that you will come to be happy with the choices that you make/are going to make in your life, as I am. Good luck and best wishes to everyone!

Spring Cleaning

Reason Why I Love You #29.

His messy room.

My room however is 10x worse. But to be honest I actually love Spring Cleaning. There's something about going thru my belongings and being stuck in my room for hours while the sun is shining that I genuinely enjoy... sounds imprisoning but once I get started I just can't stop. I've heard it before and it's true that you feel so much more centered when your room is in tact, plus it's liberating getting rid of useless clutter. The majority of my time however is spent organizing my clothes and making sure the closet is up-to-date. By that I mean that I have a lot of things I don't wear, and every year I make something good out of this and put them in bags for my Mom to send back home to the Philippines. My dad always says that before I buy something new, I need to counteract it and get rid of something old. Not always the case, but he makes a good point.

I'll have to literally set a date aside to do my Spring Cleaning, in the meantime my room reflects my life right now dead-on: laissez-faire and scattered. AH!

GGG Down Memory Lane #11: Crimped Hair and Florals

My mom and my sister on New Years Eve in the Philippines, circa 1988.

NYE in the Philippines is way more dope there than here. Stroke of midnight and not only are you surrounded by generations of family, but the streets are filled with colorful fireworks, lighting up the sky so beautifully that you almost forget about the lifestyle differences between what I call home and what my parents called home. I need to go back there again; wish my mom could take me with her today.
