A Handful of Birthday Stills

My mom set up a belated brunch for me last Saturday morning at this place up the hill called Shanghai Palace. For some reason, the place was completely empty come our reservation for 11 (unfortunately, I had to work at 12:30) and being the annoying daughter that I am, I kept bugging my parents with unnecessary thank you's for "renting out the WHOLE restaurant for ME?!" I'm such a pain in the butt - one of the duties bestowed upon me as middle child. As you can see, I finally had my birthday cake and ate it too... DQ ice cream cake never gets old (no really, it lasts in the freezer for months, ha) and I do much rather prefer it old school than all that new school Ace of Cake Boss shit who's edibility is questionable. Overall, I enjoyed the company of mi familia, even if it was semi eat-and-run... much love and thanks guys, I promise this is the last you'll hear of and about my birthday.

GGG Birthday Guest No. 14: Yours Truly, 20

It's official! I am no longer a -teen... a little fact that my Mom reminded me of as she gave me a long, warm and fuzzy (she was in her bathrobe) hug yesterday morning. Let's rewind. The night leading up to my Birthday morning I witnessed a Prestige Worldwide 10pt-lead win and sat thru a cute little countdown in the stands. Ended up in the car with the Boyfriend and his brother at the actual stroke of midnight, and was really hoping to see any sign of the Leonid meteor shower on the drive home but the city lights were obviously overbearing. Got a couple of calls and texts from some good friends, then finally managed to fall asleep beside him. Perfect, so far.

Cold Night?

It is so cold in my house that Raymond and I had to bust out the portable heater yesterday evening. And the La Senza booties. Can't wait for tomorrow to just be over (the 8AM wake-up call and class until 5PM part) so that it can finally be "TV Show Thursdays". Yessir, it's exactly how it sounds. He downloads all of the latest episodes of our shows and we watch 'em all right after one another to the point where we've been in bed for hours. "Swim in a deep sea of blankets, blah, blah be a while... whatever that song you always quote is." Um, I've made it out to sound like a tradition but really its not... tomorrow is the first TV Show Thursday. I'm excited.

• Convergence Café (formerly known as Koi) = a pretty daope location for a Goodbye Dinner. Classy yet chill, traditional dishes with modern twists... convergence at its finest. Order the Ninja Food (I know, right?!).
• Too many times have I gotten food "wrapped up" and forgotten it at the restaurant... FML.
  
• Canada is officially out of The Recession, kids... which means no more "We're in a recession," excuses/justifications. Now we can all go back to just being straight-up cheap. Whaaat, there's no need to hide it!
• Someone please tell me how a girl from Calgary can watch 500 Days Of Summer? Any local theatres? Anyone? Bueller?
  
• Picked up mi(new)Phone the other day. I've spent quite some time lately re-inputting contacts and info, uploading folders of photos, and basically customizing the shit out of it all weekend.
• So stoked on: picture messaging, having voicemail for the first time ever and GPS
  
• My friend and her boyf got a black cat and they named it Sookie. I hate cats, but that is the sickest name ever for one.
  
• Babe, don't forget to get True Blood tonight!
• ... and Entourage. We ♥ (downloading) our HBO series.
• The Visa^® bill is almost paid off, and will be back in business shortly. Uh oh!
• Lately I've been having this strange urge to get something pierced, or tattooed... Uh oh! (x2)

GGG On Holidays #1 (PT.2): Father's Day Dinner

Although most often reliable and handy when it comes to picking a place to eat when you and your friends just can't decide, the iPhone app Urban Spoon is NOT ALWAYS trustworthy in the suggestions it gives. I posted earlier yesterday night that we had reservations at this restaurant called La Viena; drove by the place which was tucked into this little corner off of Kensington and I know it's harsh to judge a book by its cover, but we ended up trashing our 7PM reservation and decided to look for something a little more... dare I say: presentable. Besides, the kids were treating Dad out to dinner and you can't blame us for wanting it to be a good one, no?

Not only is my boyf wonderful for sitting thru a 6hr pageant, but he took these shots of me once we got home. Kind of like, to preserve my very last moments wearing the sash... you know? It was fun. Afterwards, had a last minute (and right before last call, at 1AM) dinner date. Ordered steaks, talked about Star Trek, fell asleep beside eachother. My idea of a perfect way to end a long night.

GGGB Weekend Wrap-up #7: Using Verbs

Truly the epitome of a Long Weekend, in the past 5 days, life has seen me:

• Go to the movies
• Enjoy a dutch breakfast with my siblings (see GGGB Photo Album #4)
• Work a Thursday night shift
• Smoke White Apple and Watermelon Mint sheesha @ La Brava
• Eat Mcdonald's and watch NHL @ a friend's house until 2AM
• Drive a friend home
• Sleepover @ the boyf's house
• Stay up watching Spanglish until 5AM
  
• Work out in the morning to P90X
• Get paid
• Have a shopping date @ Chinook mall (only to leave with nothing)
  
• Watch the Flames lose, again
  
• Pick up some Crazy bread
• Celebrate a friend's birthday @ the bar
• Work the usual Saturday shift
• Hang out with one twin waiting for the other twin to come pick us up
  
• Have a late night dinner @ the Cactus Club to see friend's off to Mexico
• Be invited back in to my friends house to enjoy a bowl of soup in their company
  
• Pick up the boyf in Panorama
• Play Fusion Frenzy @ a friend's house with the Prestige Worldwide boys until 2AM
• Stay the night @ the boyf's house again
• Sleep in until 1PM in the afternoon
• Eat pho
  
• Study; while he cleaned out his closet
• Attend the Youth Mass @ St. Thomas More
• Celebrate Easter dinner @ The San Agustin's
• Have a (free) massage
• Watch the latest episode of Breaking Bad
  
• Go home

Sorry for the lack of actual dates, it was almost as if I lost track of days this weekend and everything seemed to happen right after one another. But so begins a new week; the last week of classes. Expect to see none of this happen again considering I'll be studying my life away for the next little while. It was great while it lasted.
