It's Already Been A Year

HL is just too sweet for words in this photo.

Vincent Gallo, Heath Ledger and Michael Stipe
at a Marc Jacobs show in Fall 2007.

Unfortunately, other than their names I don't know much about what the other two guys do. Well, all I know is that one's a camera hog, that's for sure. Ha! I should probably educate myself and google their names up...

You Almost Lost Sleep Over It, Too

They are called Perler beads !!!

My Heart Won't Lego

Inspiration for post: FN's outfit that he wore to The GSM (General Staff/Sales Meeting).

Dee and Ricky, 21-year old twin brothers from Staten Island are the young designers behind the Pixelated Lego Heart Brooch. You may have seen it gracing the chest of Kanye West during the promotion of 808s and Heartbreaks, but otherwise this childhood-inspired creation had kick started another major highlight for the brothers: their work styled a Marc by Marc Jacobs runway show (Spring 2008). When asked on how this opportunity of a lifetime came about, this is what they had to say, word for word =/:

"Yeah, Dee and Ricky made that show really pop with those accessories, we killed em. They didn’t even see us coming. My Boy Matt Bananas threw this party in the Hamptons for Camp Beverly Hills, Dee and Ricky rolled there & we met this boy Jay Peezy (Jason Preston), dude be chilling with Marc Jacobs & such… Jason saw some belts we were rocking & he placed an order. We dropped them off to him the next day. He call us back later that night like, YO! Marc loves the belts! He wants Dee and Ricky to style the runway show at the Armory. We were like whoa! Also his show was like in the next 8 days so we had to work really fast & hard, We made a bunch of samples & a couple of special pieces for the models. Everything we brought in they loved. Marc was going nuts." - Taken from an interview with Fredflare.com

The Cult Club

I have a new found love for those who are able to hand make epic projects of their own.*

I landed on Itsumi's blog the other day and despite not being able to read some of her text, her posts are dope. You could translate the blog thru the sidebar; but I'd much rather indulge in the mystery of not knowing what she's saying, and try to figure out her strange photos. Regardless, she has become famous on the blogosphere for her knock-off knits of Chanel and just recently opened up an Etsy shop called the Cult Club to sell them. Her logo of course is cleverly a pair of mirrored C's, so suitable!

Right now there's only the earrings in the shop but here are some others that were posted on her blog:

This next one isn't a knit, but I know that whatever it's made of will trigger your childhood memories:

Anyone know what that stuff is called?! It's going to bug me until I find out... well all I remember is that YOURMOM needed to iron it for you.

Ouch!

*I wanted to include Yokoo in this post, but RSA already beat me to it on The FPOE. You should check her shit out too.

Coming Soon: The GSM Photos

Comparisons Are Easily Done

The newest Katy Perry - Thinking of you (Kudos for stepping out of your box and still sounding amazing, KP)

BTW: I'm excited because my new BJ "Terra" Mary-Jane Pumps kind of look like the ones she's wearing in the video! (See 1:21 or 4:11) Okay, maybe they don't but I'm using this as an opportunity to transition into sharing my newest purchase with you, readers. Originally priced at $260 CAN, I managed to get everything classic I love about Betsey Johnson all put into one pair: patent leather, round toe, bold side cutouts, perforated accents at the collar, a dip-dyed satin ribbon tie, and lastly the signature pink leather sole - on sale at Holts Vancouver for $99 CAN. I'm in love*.

*I forgot to mention the 4 1/4" coned heels. Pain for beauty!

Naturally Man-Made

Spotted on the city streets of Vancouver. (Robson St. x Granville St.)

It reminded me of Paul Graves' Balloon Sculpture Series. The following one is my favorite... kind of feels a litle Kanye, no?

Creative Anthropology

Model, Style Muse AND Designer Erin Wasson

I found the above photo of Erin to be a perfect way to begin the evolution of my own blog. Although it's overlooked, I enjoy and am amused by tees that intuitively make use of the English language's homonyms. That quote is sick, so badass!

Maybe it's just me but when I read her shirt, I imagine this:

and that's the dopeness of playing with words.

Enjoy YOURSELF!

Why GGGB?

It derived from the somewhat badass nickname that is my boyfriend's Xbox Live account, goodboyg0nebad (abbr: "GBGB"). I deemed it appropriate because I have never blogged before and feel like I'm innocently stepping into something I'm not used to... yet. I already have a feeling this is going to be bad for me. It may become an addiction. Damn, I should just stop right here and get out while I can shouldn't I? Yet (un)fortunately I feel as if I'm already playing a part in the blogosphere; just recently have I been exposed to blogs that I now read on a daily basis (those in which will be listed on the sidebar once I figure it out). So I guess you could say I'm an observer. But you just watch, I'm sure in no time I'll have the hang of things and hopefully I'll be a part of your daily blog intake.

There are only two types of people in this world: those who entertain, and those who observe.

Now it's time to reverse the roles!
