GGG Birthday Guest No. 15: Kristia, 18

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending Kristia's debut, held at the Greenwood Inn on Saturday night. For those of you who aren't familiar with this filipino rite of passage, it's basically just a huge celebration in your honor for friends and family to celebrate it with you. Girls, it's like your own little wedding (I recall hearing Shaylee's parents, whom we were seated at a table with, say: "Did she just change dresses AGAIN?", haha). As such, obviously this party requires just as much planning and preparation... months in advance to get the invitations, decorations, giveaways, and of course: the entertainment ready. Her cotillion (aka entourage) was what I was most looking forward to seeing, considering reading so much about the dances via Wednesday night tweets and especially since it consisted of some of my friends that I would consider family. They didn't disappoint (see more photos). All in all it was another successful debut. As for me? I opted out on having one and instead got Chuck as my present for coming of age. However, Kristia's dad mentioned in his speech a clever little con: as per the debutante's reply when faced with the choice of car vs. party, I too should've said "I'll get the debut now, and the car later!" Bang Bang

  • Goodbye Winter 2009 semester, Hello Block Week and Spring 2009. =/
  • Did I mention that aside from having a full Business Law course crammed into five 8:30AM-5:30PM classes, that there is an exam from 7:30PM-8:30PM every night after each one? FML.
  • Bermuda Shorts Day was yesterday, nobody hyped it up enough so all day I studied. Can we please all go next year?!
  • Ha, “next year”; seems so far away but if next year is anything like this year, it’ll fly by.
  • 11 calls from Henry On 4th; oh babe, you are such a "bother", hehe.
  • K, I gotta get off the phone. My client’s here! Well, it’s just Francis, but I gotta go.
  • Speaking of, WHERE YOU BEEN FPOE?!
  • Note to self: Don’t forget to print off your T2202A, or else you won’t be claimed as a student and end up owing hella money to the Government. OOPS!
  • Thank God that’s fixed, I love tax returns.
  • JFTB and GBorGB cameo Thursday night at work; it was nice to see you ladies out shopping and contributing to the economy again now that Lent is over haha.
  • 300 posts and 15,500 hits = GGGB Milestones.
  • Some slight visual additions made to the Sidebar, yay me.
  • When Angels get their Wings = When Cheerleaders get their Pom-Poms
  • I can officially welcome ML and JK to the management team now as of this week, congrats girls.
  • Misosad, haven't seen the boyf since Tuesday.
  • Good luck in Vancouver everybody! Kick butt as per usual.
  • It's a beautiful day out, it's a shame I have to be stuck inside at work today.

Just In Time

  • Diamond Dance-Off was a major disappointment, talk about a downgrade.
  • Congrats, Senior Mr. Candance! HAHAHA good job, Cuz.
  • Pretty sure you beat last year's record considering your 5 shots of 151 (plus all the others) this time.
  • Everybody got to play with the FPOE's Rebel that night, can't wait until I have one to call my own.
  • I don't want you to go to bed, mad at me. And I don't wanna go to bed, mad at you.
  • ACCT Quiz #4 yesterday, last one of the semester already!
  • On the same note, girl stop texting me about our assignment on a FRIDAY night...
  • I love Fridays, have the whole day to run errands and get things done with my boyf. =)
  • Like I always said, you find the best things when you're not looking to find something.
  • Men's Goofy t-shirt and faux leather pants; yeah, I'm confident with my style.
  • I think you're the first to buy these.
  • Had to cancel Shibuya with everyone, SORRY!
  • Double Triple Quadruple date @ the movies instead.
  • You look like Insectosaurus. HAHAHA
  • Waited an hour and a half for a table at the Olive Garden; people that had been waiting with us had gotten a table, eaten dinner, and left -- all before our group of 7 even got seated.
  • So many birthdays, I love it! Always something to do.
  • Julliard's tonight for Part 2 of LT's Birthday Celebration.

Checking In

  • Happy April Fools Day. Once again, another month has completely flown by.
  • April issues have hit the stands, haven't even finished reading my March ones yet.
  • Being a busy body is better than being a nobody: attend morning classes as per usual, meet with my ACCT group to (hopefully) complete Assignment #2, assist an extra dance rehearsal @ 4:30PM, head to the Registry because I "lost" my ID and "need to get a new one", and hopefully make it in time to watch the Diamond Dance-Off.
  • Stay in it as long as you can, Cuz. You'll miss it once its gone.
  • Countdown To The Crown: 24 until 04/25/09 and 39 until 05/09/09
  • FINALLY, the infamous B+N kiss that I posted oh-so-long ago happened on yesterday's episode of GG. I was beginning to think my sources were false. =/
  • Chuck needs to be cleaned, inside and out. Especially the junk in his trunk.
  • Opus / Hifi / Mile 1 / Thursden / Julliard's
  • S/S 09 Must Have: a jumper, romper, or one-piece of some sort. Never thought I could pull things like these off, but I found one that I can confidently (and hella comfortably) wear.
  • Tried painting my nails yesterday = FAIL. Book an appointment instead? Good idea.
  • Prestige Worldwide Update: vote on which sexy ho pose to put on the jersey (oh, boys) and Sunday practice.
  • Aritzia paycheck / Danscott paycheck
  • Tuesday nights with the boyf: Let's Just Be - Neyo describes them well.

GGGB 4sks #1: What's On Your Keychain?

I never noticed until now that these were all received as gifts where I didn't even expect to get anything in the first place, and although they are really just keychains... it's the gesture behind them that make these worth more than they are.

Marc Jacobs shiny plastic key loop: Deb brought 4 of these back in different colors for each manager when she went to New York a couple of months ago, what a sweet SM. Love her. Even when she is on vacation she is thinking about us back at the store! This electric blue color is what helps me find/grab my keys in the midst of my dark purse haha.

Coach Special Edition Las Vegas charms: Mom brought me these back from November but I didn't get them until Christmas. While she was there she asked if I wanted anything specific and I honestly said: "Oh just get me a keychain, or something." And she did! She also got me the next one too =)

Coach patent leather reversible letter "A": again, from Mom. It's so cute, it reminds me of Bex in JH when she was obsessed with the Pink and Orange combination of colors. Sometimes I look at it though and forget that my name is actually Amanda, not Mandy.

Louis Vuitton w/ circled Pastilles key ring: This one is from Ms. Gail, she gave these to all her teaching staff at the end of last year. I actually use this one on my work keys because I have more gold keys on that ring so it matches better hehe. This one time I was ringing somebody in and my keys were on the Cash Desk and I accidentally swiped them into her bag along with her clothes, she came back a couple of hours later and returned them (the keys, she kept the clothes obvs). She Sandy is now one of my really good customers, I treat her well haha.

Je Suis Noir

So angry, should've bought those Frye boots at my work when I had the chance. Would've gotten them at a wicked price too, I'm sad. =(

The ingenious heel of LD Tuttle, seen here on my two favorites: the Spectre and the Creature, respectively. A chunky heel that I actually don't mind, they're actually 4" but you can't even tell. Former ballerina Tiffany Tuttle's shoes are made in Italy, and boasts a fanbase that includes, and I quote legitimately: Erin Wasson (!), Natalia Vodianova (!!), and Mary-Kate Olsen (!!!). And now me too, obviously.

The Jeffrey Campbell "No Tip" oxford. Something new to try... although these remind me of my tap shoes. Makes me wonder if I could DIY it because I have so many old pairs that are missing screws and who's taps are falling off anyways, haha.

ABDC: Quest Crew, Week 7

10 Things From Today #5: Spring Courses, Unorganized, and Drop-ins

  1. Spring 2009? BSEN Block Week, and COMS Spring session. Bittersweet, to get these two out of the way. Prereqs are looking to be completed in time!
  2. On the same note, the Registrar posted the Exam schedule yesterday; I have three in a row. =( Remind me to book work my life off.
  3. Mmm... the Dreamsicle smoothie.
  4. "We tend to think about the past or the future, be aware of where your mind is right now. The most important thing should be your breathing, nothing else." The perfect study break: Tuesday's with Mina.
  5. I love when mommy or daddy gives me change for parking. $6 a day adds up, srsly.
  6. Project Rebel is projected to be completed and attained very, very soon. So tempted to take ART 235 in the Summer even though it wouldn't count towards anything...
  7. Lately I've been feeling all over the place, unorganized and last-minute; it's probably because of the lack of using my day planner/calendar on miPhone. B4d me, I am better than this.
  8. As previously mentioned, yesterday was Danscott's stage rehearsal in preparation for the 2009 Competition season. This year is my first year not dancing at all, and I miss it so much. It's not as fun tagging along (although tagging along to the competition in Vancouver and Seattle mid-April will be), plus being in the audience rather than on stage is just not the same; time to start accepting the event invitations on FB to workshops and drop-ins.
  9. Guilty online obsession: Lookbook
  10. I need to get back to studying, 4 more chapters to go. BYE!

Walking On Broken Glass

Watching yesterday night's stage rehearsal is the reason behind posting these...

The busiest, most time-consuming and dedicated years of my life, but I loved it.

Center Stage

In tribute of Mary Saludares; a 20yr old ballerina from the Philippines who passed away last Friday after being struck by a car, following her performance at the Washington Ballet. I didn't know her, but I guess you could say because of common grounds this tugs at my heartstrings... looking at photos and videos I am truly saddened that the world has lost such a talented and inspiring young dancer and person. My prayers go out to the family, friends and anybody who had the opportunity to be on stage with this Beautiful Ballerina.
