I promise I'm not dead. Just temporarily frozen.
Speaking of cute sparkly frocks, that Jimmy Choo x HM tank that I was fangirling over a couple posts back is going for $200+ on Ebay... alright c'mon it's cute, but not THAT cute. =/ I guess I can easily let go of it considering I just found out that this year we're not even having a legit staff Christmas party (nor will I need it for the anniversary, where we're going I need to bundle up)! The previous years we've done them at Calgary's ultra chic resto-lounges Velvet, Blink, and SeVen - this year (wait, this is my 4th Aritzia holiday season?!) we're just doing a little dinner, and we're not even allowed to bring our significant others :( Boo, although I'm sure the company has bigger and better ideas to spend their money on eh? As IYBC says, big things poppin' over here.
Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending Kristia's debut, held at the Greenwood Inn on Saturday night. For those of you who aren't familiar with this filipino rite of passage, it's basically just a huge celebration in your honor for friends and family to celebrate it with you. Girls, it's like your own little wedding (I recall hearing Shaylee's parents, whom we were seated at a table with, say: "Did she just change dresses AGAIN?", haha). As such, obviously this party requires just as much planning and preparation... months in advance to get the invitations, decorations, giveaways, and of course: the entertainment ready. Her cotillion (aka entourage) was what I was most looking forward to seeing, considering reading so much about the dances via Wednesday night tweets and especially since it consisted of some of my friends that I would consider family. They didn't disappoint (see more photos). All in all it was another successful debut. As for me? I opted out on having one and instead got Chuck as my present for coming of age. However, Kristia's dad mentioned in his speech a clever little con: as per the debutante's reply when faced with the choice of car vs. party, I too should've said "I'll get the debut now, and the car later!" My mom set up a belated brunch for me last Saturday morning at this place up the hill called Shanghai Palace. For some reason, the place was completely empty come our reservation for 11 (unfortunately, I had to work at 12:30) and being the annoying daughter that I am, I kept bugging my parents with unnecessary thank you's for "renting out the WHOLE restaurant for ME?!" I'm such a pain in the butt - one of the duties bestowed upon me as middle child. As you can see, I finally had my birthday cake and ate it too... DQ ice cream cake never gets old (no really, it lasts in the freezer for months, ha) and I do much rather prefer it old school than all that new school Ace of Cake Boss shit who's edibility is questionable. Overall, I enjoyed the company of mi familia, even if it was semi eat-and-run... much love and thanks guys, I promise this is the last you'll hear of and about my birthday.
Need this exact little sparkly number in my Life... really, this is all I want from this collaboration. It would be perfect for your staff Christmas party (Dec. 6th), your outfit to meet Gabe (Dec.12th), your 4yr anniversary date (Dec.18th), your New Years Eve par... shoot, somewhere in there I made it all about me, huh? Well, special occasions aside, lately in the mornings I've been looking into my closet, only to be staring at everything - completely uninspired. And unsparkly (hmph). I feel like it is a famine of beauty in there right now... A FAMINE OF BEAUTY, HONEY! Hmm... the wallet does seem to be "full-er" though, however. Are we making the appropriate causal connections here? Yay, go me.
Once again, the Bonadrag boutique never fails. I remember when I found the site way back when I first started blogging, this snake vertebrae necklace by Erica Weiner was my favorite among the many things that caught my eye in the Flair section:
It's official! I am no longer a -teen... a little fact that my Mom reminded me of as she gave me a long, warm and fuzzy (she was in her bathrobe) hug yesterday morning. Let's rewind. The night leading up to my Birthday morning I witnessed a Prestige Worldwide 10pt-lead win and sat thru a cute little countdown in the stands. Ended up in the car with the Boyfriend and his brother at the actual stroke of midnight, and was really hoping to see any sign of the Leonid meteor shower on the drive home but the city lights were obviously overbearing. Got a couple of calls and texts from some good friends, then finally managed to fall asleep beside him. Perfect, so far.
Sometimes it's smart to step back and take a look at where your money goes. Personally, I'm guilty for never doing this, even with the technology to do so in the comfort of my own home or via miPhone on the go... then all of a sudden I'm buying a coffee and my card declines and it's embarassing and I say "It's payday tomorrow, OKAY?" and I run away with the latte without paying for it. No, I'm not actually that broke but I am beginning to be THAT addicted to coffee...
So let's see here, in the past couple of days: a boyfriend flannel, two pairs of Happy Socks, an early birthday present to myself from the bookstore, paid off my speeding ticket, pulled out the cash I owed my Dad for tuition, the madly addictive LineUp (the Boyfriend kindly gave me a loonie so I could buy the Pro version), and a handful of grande Caramel Brûlé lattes. Extra caramel toppings - which are free, thank God.
Hey, I guess that's not too bad... besides I'm working six shifts next week (top secret shit), so all that labor will eventually make up for it all, right? Enjoy the rest of your weekends everyone!
Finally Tako can see! He got home and he decides to sleep right away... I wonder if dogs understand irony? Or do they have other things to worry about? Like being so frikken cute? PS: I need some bloglovin'!
So I bought this long-sleeved "waffle" dress the other day... turns out it's "basically a thermal, Babe". This is true. Oh well, the better to stay warm during snowboarding season my dear. Hmm, I'll show you guys my board one day. That was my dope birthday present for my 19th and I really want to just use the shit out of it (with TLC) this year. :) Speaking of birthdays... my Boyfriend's, his brother's girlfriend AND my Mom's are all this coming Friday. Life is full of coinkidinks, guys. I love my Madeline for taking my shift for me (since somehow I totally forgot to book that night off) so now I have alll night to spend with them. Anyways, enjoy the silly pictures! This little bunny is off to go study.
Finally got around to painting my nails a matte nude color over the weekend... doing your right hand is such a bitch. I seriously contemplated in frustration (after having re-done them like 3 times) to just bring the bottle down to my guilty-pleasure nail salon at the bottom of the hill and have them done for me, haha. Oh the always existent debate between spending time vs. spending money.
Oh my goodness. Sorry about the delay guys... when it comes to my Blog I have serious OCD/ADD and can't ever settle with publishing it on the web until it looks exactly how I want it to look. It was so bad to the point where I was editing HTML on miPhone. It's a curse, really... kind of how we get ready in the mornings, put on an outfit and hate it only to do the vicious cycle over and over again until you're late for work and you still look bad. Well, over the course of my makeover and ridiculous outfit changes, the unspeakable happened... the entire Blog deleted itself. Which is why you may have gotten a spam of old/new GGGB posts on your Dashboards because I had to re-import them, blah, blah... not to mention that all the while I think I lost all of my followers. :(
Anyways, I'm now in love with my new look so first things first! A couple new housekeeping things worth mentioning: I've always wanted to write my posts in Courier New... it's kinda short and quirky and geeky like Wolowitz. Plus the other day, I learned in my COMS class - this course is SO useful, I swear - the difference between Serif and Sans Serif fonts and surprisingly applied it on here. I would go into it but that would bore the hell out of you (or have I already? ha). Selected lengthier posts still have a SEE MORE PHOTOS » link to take you to the full thing. The FEATURED POST // section above is automated to display my most recent "Good Girl Gone ____________ #_" exclusive ones. Took out the sidebar, moved that shit to the bottom. Tiny little arrows beside your scroll bar have the power to take you ALL the way to the top or ALL the way to the bottom at the click of your mouse (I did this mainly for my sake in editing but I guess it's helpful for you readers too). Oh and I made a logo, changed my one-liner (because I'm turning 20 soon, and my old one wouldn't have sounded the same: "a 20yr old good girl..." 20?! RIGHT?), and added a FAQ section that is currently Under Construction because nobody has ever asked me... any questions, frequently? So ask away! Shoot me an e-mail or send me a comment. SOMETHING! JUST TO KNOW YOU GUYS ARE STILL ALIVE!!!
That is all. Enjoy,
xx goodgirlgoneblogged
I did a bullet list last week as an Update and I think I mentioned my other new love for huge, wooly sweaters. To me it's a decent trade-off. I am sooo annoying when I'm cold, and a little less when I'm itchy so deal. Here is one of my favesies right now that I'm referring to... not the best shots of the Wild thing but they'll do. Just use your imagination, Max.
